1 0A Thursday December 15 1994 yr Walter Drago: retired dairy worker Obituaries Gale Bruzzese: retired practical nurse Gannett Suburban Newspapers Alphonsus Morgan: native of Ireland jiWalter Drago of Yonkers a retired dairy worker died Tues day at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville He was 82 Drago worked as a milk man for 30 years first for Bor Dairy then for Smith Da iry both in Mount Vernon He retired in 1976 He was born Nov 10 1912 to Louis and Alice Walsh Drago in East Port Chester Conn where he attended schools On Nov 8 1936 Mr Drago married Ethel Davis in Mount Kisco The couple had lived in Yonkers since then During World War II Mr Drago was a corporal in the US 1874th Combat Engineers Aviation Battalion He served in the Pacific where he partici pated in five invasions in New Guinea and the Philippines He was among the first troops occu pying Japan Mr Drago was awarded Bronze Stars three Arrowheads the Asiatic Pacific Service Med al the Philippines Liberation Ribbon World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of oreign Wars After the war he joined the Elks Moose and Eagle clubs in the Yonkers area In addition to his wife Mr Drago is survived by a son Capt George Drago of Memphis Tenn a brother Howard Drago of Oregon two sisters Veronica Drago and Evelyn Hayslett both of Connecticut and a grandchild A brother Roy Rochelle to Dr Clinton Hafford a dentist and Mary Louise Gale Hafford a concert vio linist music teacher con ductor and founder of In Association of Gale Bruzzese timate Concerts Westchester After graduating from New Rochelle High School in 1946 Mrs Bruzzese attended Green briar College in Virginia where she majored in Spanish As a young woman Mrs Bruz zese was an accomplished eques trian golfer swimmer and cel list In more recent years she developed an interest in bowling and video electronics If she taping or editing movies Mrs Bruzzese could be found in a bowling alley perfecting her hood shot or offering encourage ment and advice to fellow bowl ers said her daughter Carol Bruzzese She also enjoyed her dog Giz mo In 1950 she married Alfred Bruzzese a New Rochelle po liceman who retired in 1959 and later became a house painter He died in 1981 In 1970 when most of her eight children were in their teens Mrs Bruzzese went back to school to study nursing She was employed at New Rochelle Hospital Extended Care Pavilion as a licensed practical nurse for 13 years and as a private duty nurse before her early retire ment Known for her compassion and sense of humor Mrs Bruzzese was famous for sliding down the banister in front of the Extended Care Pavilion at the end of her work day Carol Bruz zese said In addition to her daughter Carol of Mount Vernon Mrs Bruzzese is survived by four oth er daughters Betsy aden of Montrose Mary Lousie Gurnsey of New Rochelle Suzanne Geert gens of Mamaroneck and Anna Spano of Greenburgh three sons Gary and Alfred both of New and 48 year Elmsford resident died Tuesday at Westchester Coun ty Medical Center in Valhalla He was 75 He was bom Oct 14 1919 in Ballymoe County Galway Ireland to Patrick and Margaret Burke Mor gan He was raised and educated in Oran County Roscommon Ireland Mr Morgan came to the United States in 1943 and lived in White Plains He moved to Elmsford in 1946 On June 13 1953 he married Rosaleen at Blessed Sacra ment Church in New Rochelle or 23 years Mr Morgan worked as a milkman for Dellwood Dairy in West Harrison He retired in 1979 He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elms ford Mr Morgan was a member of the Union local no 338 in Mount Vernon In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons Brian of ort Lauderdale la Kevin of Elmsford Richard of Kendall la and
