I was recently introduced to flax milk. After trying some flax kefir, I started thinking to try flax milk. However, I didn't find the plain flax milk very appetizing for my palate. On the other hand, the vanilla flavored flax milk is surprisingly good.

Walnut milk, in contrast, is really my kind of thing. Rich nutty taste and it's agood thick and creamy milk perfect for any nut milk lover. That's why I never add any flavors to walnut milk. Just plain simple walnut milk is perfect for me. If you choose to add some flavor to it, consider adding vanilla extract, medjool dates, rose extract and even cinnamon.

Thank-you Sophie! Just made the walnut milk. Fantastic! Apart from all the other benefits of the DIY method, it allows you to flavor it just how you like it (mine has just a touch of maple syrup -- perfect!). For the nut milk pulp, I made the following mixture for a fantastic sandwich spread: walnut milk pulp (mine was still damp), minced garlic, maple syrup, salt, and some evoo. I might try adding some herbs (basil, black or red pepper) next time. And it might have benefited from some ground flax seed to bind it together, but flavor-wise, my recipe was an incredibly delicious spread on a slice of my pullman loaf. Should be a great dip as well.
Any idea how long nut milk should last in fridge? Has anyone tried freezing it?

That’s fantastic! I keep the nut milk in the fridge for three days. Never made a huge batch and stored it for a week or so.

Hi, I have been making this flaxseed recipe minus the dates for two weeks now and love it. However, I have a question about the carbs. How would I figure out the carb count for this milk? Should I still use the net carbs for flaxseed in general or should I use the total carb count due to the fact that most of the fiber is strained out? I was going to just leave the fiber in the milk because this question was really bothering me. lol

I know that it’s confusing. But I take the total carb into account considering how much I used in the recipe. If it’s less, that’s really good! Win-win

Do you think homemade flax milk would hold up well in chai? I don't want to bother with the whole procedure, but it's all worth it for my cup of chai.
    Thanks for ur delicious posts

I haven’t used flax milk for Indian chai yet. But I have used it for cold coffees and it works wonderfully. Do try for chai, and let me know.
