Jumping over from TTC After Loss.
Has anyone had multiple progesterone levels drawn post ovulation? My provider ordered a progesterone to be drawn 7 days post ovulation last cycle. My level was 7.46 and I feel like everything I read indicated that was low. She said it was okay and that they were just looking for over 3 to confirm I did in fact ovulate.
I’m advocating for them to be drawn again this cycle (just ovulated yesterday)… but curious if anyone had serial progesterone levels after ovulation?
Any/all input would be greatly appreciated!!

Progesterone issues can’t be diagnosed with day 21 test. Your OB’s info is correct. Above 2-3 confirms ovulation and that is the ONLY thing this test is capable of checking for.
There isn’t a point in multiple draws. This is because in a single hour, your levels will fluctuate wildly between 2-40 or even above several times per hour. If you had your blood draw done 5 mins earlier or later than you did, you could have had a significantly higher number.
Here’s a helpful video as well

@Dani236,
also adding that the 10 or above progesterone value is for when pregnant, not in the TWW. When pregnant your levels stabilize due to the constant presence of HCG.

@Dani236,
curious if you know how low progesterone is diagnosed if not with CD21 test? Is it from rechecking progesterone throughout early pregnancy? I work in a lab and am very well aware the reference ranges are different from pregnant and non pregnant patients. From working in a lab I am also aware that “normal range” does not mean optimal levels. I just had a miscarriage in April and am advocating for myself as best as I can to prevent that from happening again.

@FutureBabyFoss,
I’ve gone through a slew of testing as part of my recurrent miscarriage testing and what I learned from all that is the low progesterone as an overall luteal phase defect is super difficult to test for and diagnose. I understand all of your feelings after a loss as I’ve been there numerous times too. Next time you are pregnant you can ask for a progesterone test to see if your progesterone stabilizes at a good level. Unfortunately, most doctors are not going to run a bunch of tests on you until you hit 3 consecutive miscarriages or 12 months trying. What was your miscarriage? I know a lot of these forums like to really discuss progesterone but vast majority are chromosome abnormalities that happen on a pure accident. It just happens sometimes. And statistically, you have a 95% chance of never experiencing another miscarriage again in your life. Only 5% have 2 consecutive losses and less than 1% have 3 or more. It really sucks after a miscarriage but sometimes over-reacting ends up doing you more harm than good.
