Fort Sumner Chamber of Commerce invites the public to its Annual Old Fort Days. There are free events at various locations, including Thursday's Cornhole Tournament at Fort Sumner High School Blacktop, a craft show on Friday at the school, goat roping at Creighton's at the Fort, Billy the Kid Tombstone race, horseshoe pitching contest at Dallas Park on Saturday, to name a few. The paid events include ranch rodeos at the De Baca County Fairgrounds, Old Fort Days Dance and Cattlewomen's BBQ at the Fort Sumner High School cafeteria. Permian Basin Celebration — 100 years of oil and gas

The Artesia Chamber of Commerce invites the public to downtown Artesia for its Permian Basin Celebration — 100 years of oil and gas. This year marks 100 years since the Illinois No. 3 well struck oil in Eddy County. The celebration of this event includes on Friday evening a ticketed dinner with special guest, fossil fuel extension advocate Alex Epstein. On Saturday, the public is invited to a full day of family-friendly events, including a parade, the Oilfield Cookoff, Oilfield Olympic Games, Battle of the Bands and at 9 p.m. the headliner, Bart Crow, performs. Smokin' on the Plaza

MainStreet Lovington's 13th Annual Smokin' on the Plaza takes place downtown Lovington and includes a barbecue cook-off, live music and entertainment for the entire family. Cherry Festival

The 5th Annual Cherry Festival returns to Nichols Ranch and Orchards, 236 Cottonwood Canyon Rd. The family-friendly event includes cherry picking, cherry pie and cherry cider, celebrating the more than 100-year history of cherries grown in the Sacramento Mountains. There will be live music each day: On Friday, The High Mesa Band and Roscoe and the Boozehounds perform. On Saturday, Captain Klas, Phil Hamilton and Dallas Burrow perform. On Sunday, Rosewater Blues and Hooks and the Huckleberries perform. There will be entertainment, games and a petting zoo. Burro Street Exchange Movie Night Under the Stars

The Burro Street Exchange Movie Night Under the Stars is free of charge and takes place every other Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at 505 Burro Ave. — at the back parking lot. Films are on June 15, "The Goonies," on June 29, "Toy Story," on July 6, "Sandlot," on July 20, "Finding Nemo," on Aug. 3, Charlotte's Web," on Aug. 17, "ET," on Aug. 31, "Wizard of Oz," on Sept. 14, "Pocahontas," on Sept. 28, "The Addams Family," on Oct. 12, "Hocus Pokus" and on Oct. 26, "Coco."
